Marcio brings more than 15 years in the international water sector. Currently, he is a Senior Knowledge and Research Advisor at CAWST, leveraging his extensive experience in the decentralized water systems and on-site sanitation sector. Prior to CAWST, Marcio spent eight years contributing his expertise as a water and wastewater engineer to Brazil’s National Health Foundation, under the Ministry of Health.
Marcio’s passion for sharing knowledge in the field of water supply is evident in his nearly decade-long tenure as a Professor at the University of Fortaleza in Brazil. His academic pursuits have been driven by a deep commitment to advancing the sector, culminating in a master’s degree and a PhD in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Federal University of Ceara, Brazil.
Complementing his professional and academic achievements, Marcio has been a member on the board of directors of the Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering (Brazil) since 2017, further underscoring his dedication to the water community.
